In the potpourri of his 1995 discharge Lone Soldier towards the progressive bluegrass of Psychograss’ Like Thoughts, Grier has continuing to build up as an musician. Both these tasks, plus 1997’s Panorama, have already been purely instrumental tasks, a feast for fans of acoustic music. In 1998, Hootenanny premiered by himself documenting label, Dreadnought, and the next year he documented the jazzier Phillips, Grier & Flinner with mandolin participant Matt Flinner and bassist Todd Phillips.
