b. Nook Schrier, 15 Oct 1913, Chicago, Illinois, USA. David Carroll became orchestra arranger/conductor for Mercury Information in 1951, and from 1953-62, he as well as the Jack port Halloran Singers made an appearance on 36 US Best 100 hits like the Crew-Cuts’ ‘Sh-Boom’ (1954, lots 1 strike) and ‘Globe Angel’ (1955); Rusty Draper’s ‘Moving, Whispering Sands’ (1955), protected in the united kingdom by Eamonn Andrews; and many Vic Damone strikes. Carroll’s biggest achievement was an instrumental edition of ‘Melody Of Like’, which peaked at no. 8 8 in 1955, although he’ll be best kept in mind among the early pioneers from the pop percussion recording later processed by Enoch Light.
