Practically unknown in his Dutch homeland, Dave became among France’s biggest pop stars from the ’70s just before reinventing himself being a TV personality decades afterwards. Delivered Wouter Otto Levenbach in Amsterdam in 1944 to some Jewish professor dad and traditional dancer mom, he was raised hearing the Everly Brothers, Gene Pitney, and Roy Orbison, and motivated by Jack port Kerouac’s On the highway, shifted to France after rules school to go after a music profession.
