Dave Wilkins

b. David Livingstone Wilkins, 25 Sept 1914, Barbados. Wilkins discovered to try out the trumpet playing in Salvation Military Rings in his indigenous Barbados. In 1935 he relocated to Trinidad to try out using the well-known Blue Tempo Orchestra which he previously often noticed on the air. A year or two later on, in 1937, a little group of youthful West Indian music artists found London to become listed on Ken ‘Snakehips’ Johnson’s Western Indian Swing Music group. In the 40s Wilkins used the rings of Ted Heath, Harry Parry and Joe Daniels before retiring from music completely.
