Dave Valentin

Dave Valentin, who recorded more than 15 albums for GRP, mixed together the impact of pop, R&B, and Brazilian music with Latin jazz to make a slick and accessible type of crossover jazz. At age group nine, Valentin liked playing bongos and congas. He gigged at Latin night clubs in NY from age group 12 and it had been not really until he was 18 that he significantly started learning flute. Valentin’s instructor, Hubert Laws, recommended that he not really dual on saxophone due to his attractive audio for the flute. In 1977, he produced his documenting debut with Ricardo Marrero’s group, and he was also on the Noel Pointer record. Uncovered by Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen, Valentin was the initial artist agreed upon to GRP and he was a favorite attraction for a long time to follow. Following the middle-2000s, Valentin was agreed upon to Highnote Information, releasing World on the String in 2005, Arrive Fly beside me in 2006, and Pure Creativity in 2011. Valentin experienced a debilitating heart stroke in 2012 another stroke 3 years afterwards; he passed away in 2017 at age 64.
