Dave “Snaker” Ray got his big break in the ’60s, when his regular companions “Spider” John Koerner and Tony Glover shaped the trio of Koerner, Ray & Glover. These were an important area of the folk music revival of that time period, documenting five albums for Elektra that blended ragtime, nation blues, as well as other offbeat styles that provided them a popularity for being extremely creative. Through the ’70s and ’80s, the trio just reunited occasionally, mainly at special displays and benefits. Ray and Glover preserved their relationship by performing jointly once weekly for a long time, and the complete music group finally reunited for an record in 1996, One Feet within the Grave. Ray continuing to release single albums through Tim/Kerr Information and perform frequently within the Minneapolis region. Unfortunately, Ray was identified as having lung cancer in-may 2002. He passed away at his Minneapolis house sixth months later on at age 59.
