Dave Nelson’s primary significance to jazz was that he often caused Ruler Oliver (his uncle) during Oliver’s last years in NY. Actually, Nelson often got the trumpet solos on Oliver’s later on records, resulting in confusion decades later on as historians attempted to determine who the soloist actually was.
