Dave McMurdo Jazz Orchestra

Created in 1988 as an outlet for the best band organizing of McMurdo, while learning with composer/arranger Bob Brookmeyer in NEW YORK, the Dave McMurdo Jazz Orchestra soon grew to add the arrangements of other bandmembers, plus several notable contributions from arrangers beyond your strap. Stylistically, the music the DMJO performs is usually diverse; varying in personality from hard-swinging music connected with Count number Basie towards the dark, thickly textured composing design of Gil Evans. After its inception, the DMJO documented their first recording for Jazz Alliance, that was nominated for any Juno Honor in 1991. Pursuing that launch, the orchestra embarked on a 15-day time, 5-town tour from the previous U.S.S.R.. The DMJO produced their U.S. debut in Boston in 1994, carrying out the shutting concert for the International Association of Jazz Teachers. Also in 1994, the orchestra was called Canada’s Big Music group Of THE ENTIRE YEAR by Jazz Statement magazine.
