Dave Koz

A contender for the instrumental pop saxophone throne, Dave Koz arrived of nowhere after his self-titled 1990 discharge managed to get onto the Billboard modern jazz graphs and remained there weeks. He provides more fireplace and strength in his function than Kenny G, and frequently appears like a reworked David Sanborn. Koz also performed on Arsenio Hall’s present, which elevated his reputation among the metropolitan modern, light jazz, and pop viewers. Koz has instrumental pop addresses plus some upbeat music, and generally sticks towards the fusion creation formula: history vocalists, synthesizers, and drum devices, a minimum quantity of single space, etc. His sessions have already been frequently released since his initial appearance over the picture. Highlights consist of 1993’s peppy Lucky Man, 1999’s collaboration-heavy Dance, 2001’s vacation treat A Even Jazz Xmas, and 2007’s film music-themed At the films. Billed to Dave Koz & Close friends, it was documented in cooperation with saxophonists Gerald Albright, Mindi Abair, and Richard Elliot, and presented guest looks by Michael McDonald, Brian Culbertson, Rick Braun, Jonathan Butler, and Jeffrey Osborne. In 2015, Koz’s career-spanning compilation of duets and even more, Collaborations: 25th Wedding anniversary Collection, topped Billboard’s jazz albums graph.
