b. David John Cliff, 25 June 1944, Hexham, Northumberland, Britain. Cliff started playing acoustic guitar in his early teenagers, playing around Newcastle upon Tyne, where he grew up. He became thinking about jazz and used various organizations, gigging with performers such as for example George Chisholm, before signing up in the Leeds University of Music.
