Datura Seeds

Led by singer/guitarist Paul Mahern, the Datura Seed products had been descendants of Indianapolis hardcore heroes the Zero Boys, an underrated impact within the development of American punk-pop in the ’80s. The No Boys released their only recording, Vicious Group, in 1982, and even though they never documented a different one, they reunited regularly through the ’80s for trips. Finally, in 1989, frontman Mahern shifted towards the Datura Seed products, whose audio was nearer to straight-up power pop than punk. The Datura Seed products’ assisting cast behind Mahern included Lee Cuthbert, Vess Ruhtenberg, Tom Downs, and Jonee Mission. Their lone recording, Who WOULD YOU LIKE It to become?, was released within the Toxic Surprise label in 1990, even though it won reviews that are positive, it didn’t find an target audience due partly towards the label’s association with an increase of intense hardcore. Mahern shifted to a prolific profession like a maker and studio room engineer, dealing with famous brands the Blake Infants, Lisa Germano, and John Mellencamp, among numerous others. Cuthbert relocated to Atlanta and co-founded the Mild Visitors with Susan Fitzsimmons (ex-Vulgar Boatmen). Ruhtenberg performed electric guitar in the post-Blake Infants task Antenna and continued to lead america 3, which also included ex-Zero Kids drummer Tag Cutsinger; Ruhtenberg also offered as short-term bassist in the Mild Readers as well as the Mahern-produced Mysteries of Existence.
