Dark Chocolate

The jazz group CHOCOLATES were organized by percussionist Barklie “Clay” Henry (whose previous affiliations include Pulsation and Barefoot). His objective was to gather accomplished music artists from different disciplines at his house in Big Sur, California, and record the outcomes. The first recording, Isle Gypsy, released by Megawave Information on, may 6, 2008, presented Henry with Kim Rock (of Spyro Gyra as well as the Rippingtons) on bass and baha sexto; Joseph Lucido on acoustic guitar and acoustic guitar synth; Aaron Rock on drums, percussion, marimba, and piano; Alan Steinberger on piano; Ronnie Ray Padilla on flute, piano, acoustic guitar, and percussion; and Nico Georis on piano, in addition guests Jayson Fann (metal drums, congas, percussion), Brock Bradford (dumbeki, speaking drum), Nura Rock (cello), and Jaqui Wish (vocals). For the next recording, Unwrapped, released Sept 8, 2009, coming back users Henry, Kim Rock, Lucido, Aaron Rock, Georis, and Bradford had been became a member of by John Nava on percussion; Mike Shannon on traps; Webber Iago on keyboards; and Xocoyotzin Moraza on Veracruz harp, with visitor vocals by Alicia Sheek and Jane Blikert.
