A mysterious figure from the past due ’60s who released a fascinating eponymous album within the names-can-be-deceptive Chartmaker label. Along with his funky, keyboard-based rock and roll and complete, soulful vocals, Darius sounded just like a even more eccentric and much moodier, doomier counterpart to Lee Michaels. The record was imaginatively organized and created, with flourishes of flamenco acoustic guitar, odd echo-tinkles, plus some powerful body organ and bass hooks increasing its overall air flow of idiosyncrasy. It’s small known, actually among psychedelic enthusiasts, and worth exhumation on Compact disc reissue.
