Danny Overbea

b. 3 January 1926, Philadelphia, Pa, USA, d. 11 Might 1994, Chicago, Illinois, USA. Guitarist and vocalist Overbea, who arrived from the Chicago R&B picture, was among the first pioneers of rock and roll ‘n’ move. He started his musical profession in 1946 and 1st documented in 1950 like a vocalist with an Eddie Chamblee monitor. Overbea became a member of Chess Information in 1952, generating his best-known tunes, ‘Train Train Teach’ (#7 7 R&B) and ‘40 Mugs Of Espresso’, the next year. Both had been essentially rock and roll ‘n’ roll tunes before the idea of ‘rock and roll ‘n’ move’ had actually surfaced. In the pop marketplace, ‘Train Train Teach’ was included in Friend Morrow and ‘40 Mugs Of Espresso’ by Ella Mae Morse. By 1955, when rock and roll ‘n’ move was producing its breakthrough around the pop graphs, Expenses Haley And His Comets documented ‘40 Mugs Of Espresso’, which, though it did not graph, became among their better attempts. Famed disk jockey Alan Freed presented Overbea often in his early rock and roll ‘n’ move revues in Ohio and NY; his acrobatic back-bend to the ground while playing your guitar behind his mind was often a highlight from the displays. Overbea was also a talented ballad vocalist (in the setting of Billy Eckstine), having most achievement with ‘You’re Mine’ (also documented with the Flamingos) and ‘A Toast To Fans’. Overbea produced his last information in 1959 and retired through the music business in 1976.
