A well-respected Louisiana guitarist who by no means became known beyond the region rather than actually established himself like a single artist. James documented some single songs in the past due ’60s which were very much within the Tony Joe White colored/(“Pork Salad Annie”) mildew: low, half-spoken vocals over spidery, bluesy acoustic guitar licks and a simple R&B/pop groove. Evidently he didn’t possess any ambitions for himself like a vocalist, and was even more content to are a sideman, playing on singles by local performers like Tommy McLain, Rockin’ Sidney, among others. He didn’t perform much recording following the early 1970s; a posthumous transfer assortment of his are a single designer and sideman made an appearance in 1996.
