Dale Hawkins

Louisiana guitarist Dale Hawkins’ 1957 strike “Suzy Q,” using its crackling bluesy electric guitar and insistent cowbell, was perhaps one of the most exciting early rockabilly singles. Documenting for Chess (as you of its few white performers) between 1956 and 1961, Hawkins under no circumstances quite duplicated its achievement, either commercially or artistically, but emerged close more than enough on several events to warrant respect among the better rockabilly performers. His drawling delivery, love of life, affinity for blues, and sharpened electric guitar work (that was actually supplied by such ace players as Roy Buchanan, Scotty Moore, and Adam Burton) are noticed to good influence on his 1958 record and several non-hit singles. Hawkins continued to become maker of some notice in the 1960s, dealing with the Five People in america and Bruce Route. In 1999 he released his 1st recording of new materials in 30 years, Wildcat Tamer, on Mystic Information. The impressive BACK OFF to Louisiana made an appearance in 2007 from Plumtone Information.
