Toronto-based creation unit Da Grassroots offers been operating as an organization since past due 1989. Made up of makers Mr. Attic, Mr. Murray and Swiff, the group spent their early years carrying out production work with a number of people in Toronto’s hip-hop community, especially Ghetto Idea. They released their initial 12″ one in 1995 on Dark Employed Information, “Play” b/w “Living Underwater” and divided their time taken between working separately on side tasks and cooking food up their initial full-length album, Passing Through Period, which arrived on Conception/Nu Groove Alliance in 1999. Passing Through Time highlighted lots of the superstars from the Toronto picture: Arcee, Saukrates, Choclair, Fatski, the Turnstylez Djs, Mr. Roam, Thrust, Ghetto Concept, Marvell, G-Knight, Redlife and much more — revealing the cable connections that Da Grassroots produced throughout their award-winning years behind the moments. The result can be an album which has a selection of textures and atmospheres, however remains extremely rooted in traditional hip-hop design.
