Their initials an acronym for ‘Filthy Rotten Scoundrels’ (alone not really a million miles from the moniker used by thrash strap DRI – Filthy Rotten Imbeciles), DRS were, predictably, a gangsta spirit quintet. Nevertheless, when Pic, Blunt, Endo, Deuce Deuce and Prison Bait finished using the hard-nosed rhymes, they provided a unexpected, and in no way unwelcome, range in close tranquility a cappella. Their early inroads in to the R&B graphs were credited mainly to this; it had been something of the novelty to listen to such down-and-dirty actuality tales sung instead of spat out. Located in LA, their debut recording took its name from the most well-liked burial setting of their regional gangster homeboys.
