D.C. Bender

b. 19 June 1919, Arbana, Tx, USA. Like JB Lenoir, DC’s initials kept no additional significance. Raised on the plantation in Polk Region, Tx, Bender was trained to play your guitar by regional musician Hardy Gibson. As an adolescent, he pursued the itinerant musician’s existence, operating throughout East Tx and Louisiana. Later on, within the 40s, he utilized Houston as his foundation, playing alongside his 1st cousin, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Smokey Hogg, Wright Holmes and Luther Stoneham. He documented for Expenses Quinn’s Gold Celebrity label as DC Washington in 1948, and, five years later on, accompanied Big Child Tillis on the session documented in LA for J.R. Fullbright’s Elko label. He didn’t record once again until he supported Mabel Franklin’s Ritzy solitary in 1964. By that point he had became a member of drummer Ivory Lee Semien’s music group, with who he documented a edition of ‘Boogie Chillen’ in 1967. His party piece was to beverage a container of ale while performing and playing acoustic guitar. It isn’t known whether this is one factor in his reported loss of life within the 80s.
