Cy Coben

Songwriter Cy Coben penned a few of the most popular and enduring nation hits from the honky tonk period, including Hank Snow’s “Nobody’s Kid” and Eddy Arnold’s “I wish to Play Home with You.” Blessed in Jersey Town, NJ, in 1918, Coben examined trumpet as a kid and gigged with regional bands before finding his accurate passions lay on paper songs, not executing them — he have scored his first strike in 1942 with Peggy Lee as well as the Benny Goodman Orchestra’s rendition of “My Small Cousin,” but that same calendar year World Battle II interrupted his fledgling profession until 1946. By far perhaps one of the most prolific composers of Nashville’s fantastic age, Coben continuing writing tracks until struggling a fatal coronary attack at a medical center near his Atherton, CA, house on, may 26, 2006. He was 87 years of age.
