Cuff the Duke

It is zero question that Canada’s Cuff the Duke opened for Blue Rodeo on an integral tour, or that Blue Rodeo’s Greg Keelor is producing their fourth record. Like Keelor and his very own bandmates, Cuff the Duke are one particular unbelievably talented rings that can leap genres such as a video game of hopscotch — to the main point where their music is nearly undefinable aside from the nice ol’ catchall, “choice.” Also like Blue Rodeo, they possess an absolute Canadian roots rock and roll basis and a flavor for the epic within their melody buildings. Cuff the Duke broke onto the picture in 2002 using their debut, Lifestyle Stories for Least Income, released on Toronto indie Three Gut Information. Critics praised the record, specifically noting its maturity, that was ironic, as no-one in the music group (all originally from Oshawa, Ontario) was over 21 years. The group produced their major-label debut in 2005 using the self-titled, Cuff the Duke. The record was the initial discharge on fellow Canadian, Hayden’s Wood/General imprint that didn’t feature Hayden, himself. Cuff the Duke developed a significant cult following, specifically on the faculty circuit, with this dark epic of the recording. Early in 2006, Halifax’s Dale Murray became a member of Cuff the Duke to try out electrical and pedal metal guitar (changing original guitarist/Moog participant/organist Jeff Peers) — adopted shortly thereafter at that time Montreal-based drummer Corey Real wood (taking the area of Matt Faris). Released in Oct, Sidelines of the town was a lot more epic and ambitious than either of their earlier produces.
