Biography

Crush pop trio Cub formed in 1992 after vocalist/bassist Lisa Marr, guitarist Robynn Iwata, and drummer Valeria Fellini met while functioning at the faculty radio station of the alma mater, the College or university of Uk Columbia. Despite no prior musical knowledge — through the entire band’s first season, Iwata performed live seated for the stage while considering cheat bed linens for chord progressions — Cub’s concert events (where the group frequently tossed candy towards the viewers) won their particular brand of basic, infectious punk-pop a cult pursuing for the Vancouver membership circuit, and in Oct 1992 the trio released their debut EP, Pep, on Mint Information, the Vancouver-based label co-owned by Iwata’s sibling Randy. Following discharge of Betti-Cola — an excellent assortment of EP paths and brand-new recordings filled with a Josie as well as the Pussycats-styled cover by famed Archie Comics musician Dan DeCarlo — Fellini still left the music group; she was changed by drummer Lisa G., whom Marr fulfilled through the web pages from the fanzine Self-Esteem Queen. Following the discharge of 1994’s TURN OUT, TURN OUT, Mint agreed upon a distribution cope with the U.S. punk label Lookout!, which brought elevated visibility towards the discharge of 1996’s edgier Container of Locks; Mauler, another assortment of singles, implemented in early 1997. On June 10 of this year, some three handwritten text messages submitted on the Mint Information internet site — one from each member — announced Cub’s separation.

1 [on hip-hop] The Beastie Boys broke all the walls for me. They were the introduction of "rap is for everybody." You know, it's not just a black thing. When we came out, it was already a foregone conclusion that all types of life listen to rap. All cultures. But we never knew that "Straight Outta Compton" would blow up like it did.
2 If you think about stuff that happened when you were young, it stays with you forever. South Central is just who I am. Even though I have a nice house, nice family, the rest of my generation is still in South Central L.A. My cousins, my brothers, my sisters, they don't wanna move out. They don't want to and they don't have the means to sustain it. That's where my heart is and that's what I think about all the time.
3 I think reading is important in any form. I think a person who's trying to learn to like reading should start off reading about a topic they are interested in, or a person they are interested in.
4 I'm not the type of actor who is trying to do a whole bunch of different shit, you know what I mean?
