Biography

Crooked Fingertips was the single task of singer/guitarist Eric Bachmann, most widely known because the longtime frontman for NEW YORK indie rock institution Archers of Loaf. A onetime saxophone main at Appalachian Condition School, he co-founded the Archers in Chapel Hill in past due 1991; quickly rising as a significant regional favorite, the band’s off-kilter sound pop broke through on nationwide college radio 2 yrs later using the release from the one “Web in the front,” accompanied by some acclaimed LPs including 1994’s Icky Mettle and 1996’s All of the Nation’s International airports. In 1995, Bachmann also teamed with manufacturer Caleb Southern to create the instrumental task Barry Dark, debuting using a self-titled LP on Alias; Tragic Pet Stories followed 2 yrs later. Within the wake of Archers of Loaf’s 1998 dissolution, Bachmann founded Crooked Fingertips, debuting in early 2000 using a self-titled record issued over the WARM label. A assortment of primary songs, Bring about the Snakes, implemented in 2001, but only 1 year afterwards a cover EP offering music by Neil Gemstone and Queen arrived on Merge Information. Entitled Reservoir Music, this is his debut for the label. Another year, Crimson Devil Dawn furthered his eyesight, allowing components like horns and strings to creep into his melancholy indie pop. In 2005 Bachmann penned Dignity and Pity, a loosely linked conceptual piece in line with the lifestyle of renowned bullfighter Manolete and his fan, Spanish celebrity Lope Sino. In 2006, heading by his surname, Bachmann became a member of Saddle Creek and released Towards the Races, a minor acoustic-based record. After regressing back to the pseudonym Crooked Fingertips in 2008, Forfeit/Lot of money premiered for Crimson Pig/Constant Performers, Inc. and distributed solely at 20 UNITED STATES independent record shops, handpicked by Bachmann himself. Bachmann spent a few of 2011 playing reunion displays with Archers of Loaf, but discovered enough time to focus on brand-new materials for Crooked Fingertips, releasing Breaks within the Shield through Merge Information later that season.
