Tarnishing sunny melodies having a scuzzy documenting style and a whole load of feedback, Crocodiles’ Charles Rowell and Brandon Welchez met throughout their formative teenage years in NORTH PARK. Playing together in a variety of incarnations since that time, including in the Story to INFLATE the Eiffel Tower, which highlighted Welchez on vocals and Rowell on electric guitar, the duo re-formed within a lo-fi capability beneath the name Crocodiles in Apr of 2008. After self-releasing a distortion-driven 7″, their one Neon Jesus was championed by No Age group on the Stereogum best-of-2008 poll. As Crocodiles’ debut full-length was documented over that wintertime, blog readers began taking see, and Summer months of Hate premiered by Unwanted fat Possum in past due Apr of 2009. That winter season, Crocodiles released a Christmas-themed break up 7″ with Dum Dum Ladies and prepped their follow-up, Rest Forever, for the summertime of 2010. After modifying their lineup to add bassist Marco Gonzalez, keyboardist Robin Eisenberg, and drummer Anna Schulte, Rowell, Welchez, as well as the group journeyed using their hometown of NORTH PARK to record their third full-length in Berlin. That recording, Endless Flowers, premiered in the springtime of 2012 on Souterrain Transmissions in the U.K. and French Kiss in the U.S. Crocodiles’ 4th album, 2013’s extremely concentrated and poppy Offences of Enthusiasm, was made by the Raveonettes’ Sune Rose Wagner and presented simply the duo of Rowell and Welchez, in addition to the periodic guest on support vocals and horns. Going for a break from your band, Welchez documented an album along with his wife, Dee Dee of Dum Dum Ladies, beneath the name Haunted Hearts. The group reconvened and setup store in Mexico Town to record its following album. Dealing with maker Martin Thulin, the duo continuing refining the poppier areas of its audio, while incorporating some Latin affects. Boys premiered in-may of 2015 on Welchez’s personal Zoo Music label. Their following album was documented in the same area, with Thulin adding instrumentation aswell as steady creation. Arriving in 2016, Dreamless de-emphasized guitars and utilized keyboards and additional instruments to complete the arrangements.
