Ceci Gomez and Kessiah Gordon constitute Crater, a Seattle-based indie electronic duo whose upbeat music explore romantic relationships and conversation in the post-Internet period. Inspired by ’90s choice rock and roll, trip-hop, and commercial, the duo resemble electro-pop groupings like Chvrches but with an increase of of the experimental advantage; they typically build music by piling jointly guitar riffs, examples, and drum loops before shaping them into cohesive music. Both longtime friends began piecing songs jointly in 2014, ultimately posting tracks on the web and getting positive replies. By the finish of the entire year, Crater set up a executing lineup that included guitarist Ben Roth and bassist Lance Umble, and toured with Canadian goth pop musician TR/ST. They spent 2015 focusing on brand-new materials and playing gigs across America, ultimately touring with MS MR for a couple weeks through the fall. The duo’s debut record, Speak to Me THEREFORE I Can DRIFT OFF, arrived on DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR Records in Feb of 2016.
