Biography

Best known because the Doobie Brothers’ saxophone participant from 1979-1982 (and once again in 1989-1990 and 1995), Cornelius Bumpus found the group after stints with Bobby Freeman along with a re-formed Moby Grape. Bumpus initial struck from his own being a documenting artist following the Doobies’ break up in 1982, launching A Clear Watch later that calendar year. Beacon implemented in 1984, and Bumpus returned towards the familiar function of sideman and program musician. Bumpus transferred from SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA to NY in 1986, and continued to try out with serves as different as Boz Scaggs, fusion superstar Jeff Lorber, and nation vocalist Lacy J. Dalton. In 1993, Bumpus became a member of a reunited Steely Dan, with whom he gigged in to the brand-new millennium. Additionally, Bumpus released his initial smooth-jazz record Known Reality in 2000.
