15 years after co-founding Sleater-Kinney, riot grrrl Corin Tucker found herself playing an advantage show in Portland, OR, where she sprinkled several new songs into her solo set. Following the present, Tucker — who’d been on hiatus with Sleater-Kinney since 2006 — made a decision to convert those new music into an record. She had taken the materials to Little Silver Reserve Studios in northeast Portland, where she started documenting the 11-monitor record with help from percussionist Sara Lund (of Hungry Ghost) and Golden Bears associates Seth Lorinczi and Julianna Shiny. The resulting record, 1,000 Years, premiered in 2010.
