Among the last true Piedmont blues guitarists, Cootie Stark was created as Adam Miller on Dec 27, 1927, in Abbeville, SC. He spent his youth around Anderson State, receiving his 1st acoustic guitar when he was 14 yrs . old. While still an adolescent, Stark shifted to close by Greenville, SC, where, struggling to discover work due to incredibly poor eyesight (he ultimately went lawfully blind), he started performing and playing acoustic guitar on the road edges in the past due ’30s, learning the busking trade (and a big repertoire of tracks) from famous brands Baby Tate, Red Anderson, and Peg Calf Sam, soon obtaining the nickname “Sugars Guy.” He wasn’t found out by the exterior globe until he was in his seventies, when Music Manufacturer Foundation creator Tim Duffy occurred to listen to Stark perform some Body fat Domino tracks. Music Manufacturer released his 1st album, Sugars Man, in 1999, another release, Raw Sugars, which presented accompaniment by Taj Mahal, adopted in 2003.
