Containe

Containe was the reflective indie-pop aspect task of Versus bassist Fontaine Toups and Connie Lovatt, a veteran of groupings including Alkaline as well as the Pacific Sea. The duo produced in Sept 1993 when Versus was struggling to enjoy a scheduled functionality honoring the fanzine Chickfactor; although Toups briefly regarded performing a single set, she rather enlisted aid from Lovatt, as well as the group was created. Originally dubbed Contain as a far more subtle mix of both women’s brands, the “e” was unintentionally added by Chickfactor co-publisher and Enchante label mind Gail O’Hara for the promotional flier; in 1994, Enchante released the duo’s outstanding debut I’D LIKE EVERYTHING, a morosely gorgeous EP spotlighting their sugary melodies and angelic harmonies. Just Cowards Walk Like Cowards, a far more rock-oriented full-length discharge which highlighted Versus’ Edward Baluyut on drums, implemented in early 1997.
