Conjunto Bernal

Biography

Conjunto Bernal was perhaps one of the most influential groups in the annals from the Conjunto or Tejano music, the high-spirited music from the Tx and Mexico border towns. Originally referred to as Los Hermanitos Bernal, Conjunto Bernal motivated such groupings as Los Lobos as well as the Blazers. Conjunto Bernal symbolized the joint initiatives of bajo sexto participant and vocalist Eloy Bernal and his young sibling, Paulino, who performed accordion and sang. As young people, both brothers journeyed from club to club playing music to improve money because of their large family members. In the past due ’60s, the Bernal brothers became born-again Christians and turned to gospel music. Eloy Bernal became one of the better known Spanish gospel performers. Eloy Bernal was wiped out in Decembr 1998 when his bus overturned outisde of Corpus Christi, Tx. His boy and daughter had been also injured within the incident. Paulino Bernal was a visitor vocalist at his brother’s funeral. A video of the Conjunto Bernal efficiency, Golondrina, premiered by Eagle Video in 1996.
