Within the mildew of David Johansen/Buster Poindexter, the music group Christmas made a decision to retool themselves as lounge lizards. On the debut record, the Providence, RI, group performed cocktail jazz, exotica, torch ballads, and B-movie spy/electric guitar themes. To finish their change, the band followed glaciers cream-colored tuxedoes within their live shows; one person in the group followed the pseudonym “the Millionaire,” and previous Christmas vocalist Liz Cox known as herself “Miss Lily Banquette” as she crooned languid jazz-pop music. After debuting in 1994 with I, Swinger, Combustible Edison released Schizophonic in 1996, implemented two years afterwards by The Difficult World.
