Oklahoma’s Colourmusic certainly are a high-concept indie group based around the idea that music is visual, which chords and records are represented by hues of color. This school of thought, popularized by Isaac Newton, led Ryan Hendrix and Nick Turner to start out the music group in 2005 while participating in Oklahoma State School in the tiny college city of Stillwater. They started creating EPs, you start with a crimson one and a yellowish one, and drummer Cory Suter became a member of. For concert events, Colourmusic extended to a quintet and included the Bells Are…’s Nick Ley and Colin Fleishacker executing in outfits and body color that coincided with record designs.
