Colenso Parade

This interesting pop/rock act was formed in October 1984 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The music group performed the Futurama celebration in Ireland and shifted to London where they released two singles, ‘Position Up’ and ‘Down WITH THE Border’, independently Goliath label. Stiff Information put them in touch with promoter and supervisor Dave Bedford. Shortly afterwards, they shifted to London where Bedford got built up Fireplace Records. From the initial line-up, Oscar (vocals), Linda Clenndining (keyboards) and Neil Lawson (bass) continued to be the nucleus from the music group. Terry Bickers (afterwards of Home Of Like and Levitation) changed the initial guitarist Jackie Forgie following the initial one, and was subsequently dropped towards John Watt (although Bickers was set up for the record sessions, by enough time Glentorran made an appearance he had shifted). Owen Howell (ex-Big Personal) would also replace Robert Wakeman as drummer. Pursuing ‘Hallelujah Chorus’, they guaranteed large airplay with ‘Fontana Eye’ in 1986, a vintage 12-club blues workout founded on fascinating lyrical epigrams: ‘I’m keeping my breathing, cos there’s no-one to keep’. A divide came immediately after their just album whenever a agreement with a significant label dropped through. Further demos had been recorded but nothing at all surfaced, although Oscar was asked to become listed on Echo AS WELL AS THE Bunnymen as vocalist following departure of Ian McCulloch. He dropped the invitation, and is currently employed in video. Lawson happens to be an aircraft professional photographer, while Linda Clandinning provides trained being a hairdresser. Just Robert Wakeman provides continuing in the music sector, with indie hopefuls Salad.
