Coila

Led by three-time Scottish national fiddle champ, Alistair McCulloch and fiddler/synthesizer player Andrew McGarva, a co-conductor from the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra and director of music in the Wellington College in Ayr, Coila offers changed traditional Scottish tunes into forums for his or her instrumental wizardry. A previous soloist using the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, McCulloch created Coila for any Western tour in 1989. Furthermore to McCulloch and McGarva, the group features Scottish Fiddle Orchestra accordionist Willie Weir and bassist Dave Cowan and percussionist Gavin Welsh, whose prior encounters consist of stints with jazz big rings like the Scottish Country wide Jazz Orchestra. The music group is often became a member of onstage by pianist/synthesizer participant Douglas Whyte and bagpiper Dougie Pincock. McCulloch, who released his debut single recording, Highly Strung, in 2000, is constantly on the divide his time taken between two rings — Coila and Cantarach, which he stocks with former users from the Tannahill Weavers, Iron Equine and Ossian.
