An R&B feminine vocal group from Chicago, Illinois, USA, the people were Betty Caldwell (lead), Gwen Hester, Elaine Sims and Dee Dee Bryant. Espresso, who appeared in the tail-end from the spirit era, were a Chicago group that were able to created some memorable function before being swept up in the disco influx. After recording a wonderful local strike for maker Clarence Johnson, ‘Your Like Ain’t AS EFFECTIVE AS Mine’, in 1977, Caldwell remaining, and business lead vocals were bought out by Hester. The group thereafter modified to the needs of the developing disco motion and opted to record inside a disco design. Their first recording, Slippin’ And Dippin’, presented an updating from the Lovelites’ ‘How MAY I Inform My Mother And Father’, as well as the record liked good airplay. Another album, documented in NJ by maker Tony Valor, didn’t find a marketplace and Coffee shortly disappeared.
