Name produced from the words from the name of Collin Walcott (tabla, sitar), Don Cherry (tpt, p, hunter’s electric guitar), and Nana Vasconcelos (per). Multi-ethnic improvisational music, mainly stemming from Walcott’s curiosity about Eastern Indian rhythms and Vasconcelos’s Brazilian traditions. Cherry’s knowledge with folk music of Scandinavia, Morocco, and Africa produces a distinctive, major-league fusion.
