Clifton Anderson


Clifton Anderson, the nephew of Sonny Rollins along with a longtime person in his band, is definitely in the uncomfortable position of writing the stage along with his uncle, position motionless while Rollins needs extended solos. In 1996 by himself excellent Landmarks documenting (Milestone), Anderson finally got the chance to come out from his uncle’s large shadow. Anderson began on trombone at age group seven, when Sonny Rollins bought him his initial instrument. He went to the SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL of Music and Artwork in NEW YORK, graduated through the Manhattan College of Music, and caused Slide Hampton’s Globe of Trombones, Frank Foster’s Loud Minority, McCoy Tyner’s Orchestra, Lester Bowie’s Brass Illusion, and Abdullah Ibrahim before signing up for Rollins’ music group in 1983. Affected many by J.J. Johnson, Clifton Anderson continues to be quite underrated.
