Biography

Pianist Clayton Like was a prominent person in Ike Turner’s Kings of Tempo through the mid-’50s, building a few of his finest platters using the legendary music group. But Love produced his initial vinyl appearance on Lillian McMurry’s Jackson, MS-based Trumpet Information in 1951 along with his very own leap band, the Shufflers. The combo was a fixture around Vicksburg, where Like was participating in Alcorn A&M being a pre-med pupil. Love’s cousin, Natchez bandleader Earl Reed, got documented for Trumpet and suggested his young in accordance with McMurry.
