Motown manufacturer/songwriter Clarence Paul comes with an enviable set of strikes to his credit, including basic edges by Stevie Question, the Temptations, the Marvelettes, and Marvin Gaye. Paul’s musical root base operate deep, as his dad and sibling had been singers. Delivered Clarence Pauling on March 19, 1928, in Winston-Salem, NC, he started performing gospel music in NEW YORK churches along with his sibling Lowman Pauling, with whom he shaped the Royal Sons. Her edition of “BEFORE YOU Get back to Me (That’s What I AM GOING Do)” went platinum, hitting number 1 R&B, number 3 play early 1974. The track in addition has been documented by Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams (on That’s What Close friends Are For), Basia, and Miki Howard, amongst others. Question, Paul, and Broadnax also co-wrote “Slightly Misunderstanding,” a 1966 strike for the Curves. ON, MAY 6, 1995, Clarence Paul passed away after a brief illness in LA with Stevie Question at his bedside.
