Clare Burson

A lovely, earthy alternative singer/songwriter whose twangy, pop-oriented music compare and contrast favorably to famous brands Neko Case and Devon Sproule, Clare Burson began attracting notice in 2003 using the launch of her home-made debut full-length. Burson’s parents urged her to try out music from an early on age. “[They] place a butter-box violin in my own hands after i was two-and-a-half years of age,” Burson described within an interview with New Beats Journal. “I didn’t possess much state in the problem.” A classically educated violinist (she examined violin using the Suzuki technique throughout her youth), Burson became interested fiddle music after her family members transferred to Nashville when she was an adolescent. By enough time she graduated from Dark brown University in the first 2000s, Burson acquired learned all about Klezmer, bluegrass, and Celtic fiddling, and acquired (moreover) learned how exactly to play your guitar. Her 2003 self-released debut, The In-Between, appreciated a warm and popular critical reception, regardless of the actual fact that Burson got no PR agent, no record label, no professional administration in those days. The recording garnered interest from famous brands college r / c and vocalist/songwriter-friendly media shops (Performing Songwriter Journal dubbed it one of the better D.I.Con. albums of 2004) and offered 5000 copies. Bolstered from the hype surrounding her 1st recording, Burson teamed up having a slew of alt-country stalwarts (the Cowboy Junkies’ David Henry, Lex Cost, and Fognode included in this) to record an EP, 2005’s Idaho. Burson self-released her sophomore full-length, Thieves, in 2007. Rounder Information selected her up for the discharge of her third studio room effort, 2010’s Metallic & Ash, an recording written mainly in response to her grandmother’s encounters through the Holocaust.
