Citizens Here and Abroad

Drawing on affects (direct or indirect) that range between Suzanne Vega as well as the Cocteau Twins to Lush and Madder Increased, Citizens Right here and Abroad certainly are a moody, dreamy option pop/rock music group from SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. A lot of their shoegazer identification originates from the lead vocals of Adrienne Robillard, who contributes tempo guitar and mementos a vocal trend that is as deadpan since it can be girlish. Bassist Chris Groves provides support tranquility vocals for People Here and Overseas, but Robillard can be their primary vocalist. But unlike the Cardigans, they aren’t hooky; People Here and Overseas are melodic within an angular, cerebral, abstract method and often prevent the typical verse/chorus/verse/chorus song framework. As well as the Lush that they motivate comparisons to may be the Lush from the past due ’80s and early ’90s — not really the greater rockin’ and extroverted Lush that provided themselves a power pop makeover with 1995’s Lovelife as well as the infectious U.K. strike “Ladykillers.” People Here and Overseas formed in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA in 2002, when Robillard and Groves teamed up with Dan Lowrie (business lead electric guitar) and Chris Wetherell (drums). In 2003, they documented their debut record, Ghosts of Dining tables and Chairs, that was released with the Sacramento, CA-based Omnibus label in early 2004. Their follow-up, Waving, Not really Drowning, made an appearance in nov 2006.
