Circus

Circus was originally referred to as the Stormsville Shakers, a London-based R&B group led by Philip Goodhand-Tait, which supported Larry Williams on his 1965 UK tour. The music group recorded many singles in its befitting the Parlophone label, the final two which – ‘Kitchen sink Or Swim’ and ‘Perform You Desire’ – presented their newly obtained Circus appellation. The sextet – Goodhand-Tait (vocals, keyboards), Mel Collins (saxophone), Clive Burrows (saxophone, ex-Zoot Cash), Ian Jelfs (acoustic guitar), Kirk Riddell (bass) and Alan Bunn (acoustic guitar) – was after that authorized to Transatlantic, for whom they finished Circus in 1969, which presented an extended improvised version from the Beatles’ ‘Norwegian Real wood’. This intensifying arranged was the group’s only recording, as Goodhand-Tait after that left to go after a singer-songwriter profession in the setting of Elton John. Mel Collins, in the mean time, recorded with Ruler Crimson and Alexis Korner.
