Created in 2008 by singer/songwriter/guitarist Tim Bruns and mandolin player Michael Morter, Denver, Colorado-based indie folk-rock outfit Churchill extended to a sextet by enough time from the group’s 2009 live debut, fleshing away Bruns’ rustic, Americana-tinged tales of love, life, and loss with cello, piano, bass, and drums. Churchill transformed heads using their debut EP, which helped make sure they are local favorites aswell as emerging nationwide talents, getting a prime slot machine at South by Southwest and garnering reviews that are positive both in the home and most importantly that drew advantageous comparisons to rings just like the Avett Brothers and Music group of Horses. The band’s full-length studio room debut, Content Sad, found its way to 2011.
