Biography
Chuck Prophet strike the road right out of senior high school within the ’80s using the psychedelic root base music group Green on Crimson, and he never looked back again. Furthermore to working being a vocalist/songwriter, guitarist, bandleader, and collaborator with performers as varied as Wedding cake, Kim Carnes, Solomon Burke, and Alejandro Escovedo, Prophet’s deepening single catalog of self-produced “sideways” origins rock has continuously become his phoning card. Born within the Southern California suburb of Whittier, the San Francisco-based Prophet produced his debut like a single designer in 1990 with Sibling Aldo; one U.K. music paper known as its collision of lo-fi and nation “as near to the authentic article like a white young man will get.” Developing his design during the period of seven albums, including Balinese Dancer (1993) and Feast of Hearts (1995), Prophet strike his stride along with his gritty yoga on suburbia, Homemade Bloodstream (1997), accompanied by the studio-tweaked and poetic The Harming Business (1998) as well as the streetwise epic Zero Other Like (2002), which sparked the air strike “Summertime Thing,” as the name track was included in Heart. Prophet’s 2004 launch Age of Wonders married vintage seems with state-of-the-art studio room technique, while by no means compromising its natural origins basis. Released in 2007, Cleaning soap and Drinking water barged through rock’s obstacles with a assisting of swamp rock and roll and hip-hop. Between albums, Kelly Willis and Boz Scaggs had been at performers who laid down variations of Prophet’s tunes, while his acoustic guitar tracks arrived on recordings from Warren Zevon, Lucinda Williams, and Jewel. In 2005 and 2006, Prophet rejoined Green on Crimson because they reunited for some shows; among the concerts premiered on the recording Valley Fever: Reside in Tucson 2005. Prophet continuing to perform like a single artist and along with his music group, the Objective Express — offering his wife, Stephanie Finch, on keyboards and vocals — and released Thinking Waylon’s Dreams in 2007, pursuing it having a politically themed single recording, Let Freedom Band, in ’09 2009. The interesting and ambitious Temple Gorgeous, a concept recording that tackled sort of alternate background of Prophet’s used San Francisco, showed up early in 2012. In 2014, Prophet came back with the recording Night time Surfer, which presented instrumental the help of previous R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck and Prairie Prince, drummer using the Pipes. Prophet delivered just one more eclectic and oddly enough titled record, Bobby Fuller Passed away woman Sins, in 2017.
