Most closely connected with European golf swing and early bluegrass, Chubby Smart was one of the biggest fiddlers in nation music. Created Robert Russell Smart in Lake Town, Florida, he didn’t start playing the fiddle until age group 15, and got his begin working dance clubs in Jacksonville before learning to be a full-time musician in 1938, when he became a member of the Jubilee Hillbillies.
