Christy & Emily

Made up of a self-taught indie rocker along with a classically educated pianist, Christy Edwards and Emily Manzo (aka Christy & Emily) developed their brooding, free, atmospheric mixture of indie rock and roll and alternative country-rock in Brooklyn in the first 2000s. Manzo was educated on the Oberlin Conservatory ahead of playing within the duo, and was starting to create a name for herself in the brand new York classical globe by enough time she teamed up with Edwards thanks to her cooperation with video musician Paul Rowley with an interpretation from the functions of John Cage. Edwards, alternatively, taught herself to try out your guitar when she was we were young in California, and continued to try out with NY rings like L’il Fighters, the Totallys, and Brute Drive ahead of and during her cooperation with Manzo. Commensurate with their twangy, somewhat ragged audio (a thing that could have the duo likened to functions as disparate because the Velvet Underground, the Carter Family members, and Galaxie 500), the group authorized to the rootsy, Brooklyn-based Sociable Registry label immediately after they began working collectively. Christy & Emily’s debut recording, Gueen’s Head, premiered in 2007.
