Christoph Heemann

Christoph Heeman’s recordings with H.N.A.S. so that as a single act reveal his inheritance of several rich Western legacies: Kraut-rock, the commercial cut-ups of Nurse with Wound and Cabaret Voltaire, and the thought of the unseen soundtrack which includes intrigued many independent-minded makers from Brian Eno to Paul Schütze. In 1983, the teenaged Heemann shaped H.N.A.S. (hirsche nicht aus couch, approximately translated as Moose With out a Couch) with Achim Flaan (aka Achim P. Li Khan). Amidst a parade of obscure cassette-only produces independently Dom Information, the duo’s 1st major recording, 1985’s Abwassermusik shown a pastime in collages of examples, tape loops and discovered sounds, frequently repeated advertisement infinitum. For 1986’s Melchior, an extended H.N.A.S. lineup caused the sympathetic Steven Stapleton (of Nurse with Wound) and issued the recording on Stapleton’s United Dairies brands. The group released two even more LPs during 1986-87, Im Schatten Der Möhre and Küttel im Frost (both on Dom). In the meantime, Christoph Heemann got begun working further afield, with a variety of numbers in the sound underground. He documented a remix-by-mail task with Merzbow (Sleeper Awake within the Edge from the Abyss), made an appearance with Chicago guitarist Jim O’Rourke’s Illusion of Security, documented with H.N.A.S.’s have Andrea Martin, and released are Mimir with Legendary Red Dots mainman Edward Ka-Spel. Heemann’s 1st single function, the 1992 EP Über Den Umgang Mit Umgebung und Andere Versuche (released on Automatic robot Records), effectively finished H.N.A.S. like a documenting entity (though Achim P. Li Khan continuing using the Damenbart and Brigitte tasks). Christoph Heeman’s 1st album function, Invisible Barrier, made an appearance around the Australian Great Information in 1993. Influenced by filmmakers Alain Resnais and Louis Malle, he documented Aftersolstice twelve months later on, for the Barooni label. Pursuing his third single album, 1997’s Times of the Eclipse, Heemann once again branched out to focus on various other tasks, included in this another Mimir discharge, several schedules with Illusion of Protection, and a job in the documenting of the existing 93 album Within a Foreign Property, Within a Foreign City with David Tibet and Steven Stapleton.
