Christoph Gallio is really a jazz saxophonist (alto and soprano) located in Switzerland. Extremely active in European countries because the 1980s, he continues to be pretty much unfamiliar to American ears, despite the fact that his trio, Day time & Taxi cab, toured the U.S. once or twice. In 1986, Gallio incepted his personal record label, Percaso, which he continuing to manage on / off. That 12 months, he released his 1st albums on cassette, documenting his single work, especially a bit entitled “Me and My Fishes,” devised with pc technician Maximum Spielmann where he duets with goldfishes (released on Fishland). Exactly the same 12 months, he performed with Stephan Wittwer and Alfred Zimmerlin in Oktett. In 1987, he found NY and caused many of the essential avant-garde performers of the town (Tom Cora, Zeena Parkins, etc.) and fulfilled keyboardist Matthew Ostrowski. With Zimmerlin and Ostrowski, he published and documented Certainty Sympathy (1988, Percaso). The three toured European countries as well as the U.S. for four years and documented a second recording, Birds & Canines. In 1989, Gallio visited Paris to review with leading avant-garde saxophonist Steve Lacy. The trio he created afterwards, Day time & Taxi, will be very much affected by his beauty. The first ’90s noticed him perform with Fred Frith and Phil Minton (as Loaf of bread for Butter and Deatho Knocko, by adding Hans Koch) and in a duet with Japanese drummer Takashi Kazamaki, with whom he afterwards formed Outfit Uncontrolled. In the next fifty percent of the ’90s, Gallio concentrated his energies on Time & Taxi, but additionally wrote beautiful tune cycles. Vehicles & Variants/Great Desert Tracks was interpreted by Irene Aebi. À Gertrude Stein highlighted Ellen Christi. Mösiöblö (À Robert Filliou), with mezzo-soprano Sarah Maurer, arrived in 2001 to important acclaim.
