Homilius assisted Label in finding a scholarship towards the Kreuzschule in Dresden. Label researched there for six years learning to be a Kantor and schoolteacher. His status as both an organist and Kantor had been deserved and needed. In his composing of significant amounts of Kantorenmusik, Label set several cantatas to pietist text messages. Characteristics of the pieces included intensive symbolism, tone-painting and fugal advancement. Masses made up by Label included recitatives and arias and his functions for key pad demonstrate an indebtedness to Hiller.
