Chris Morrissey

Chris Morrissey is a Brooklyn-based bassist, vocalist, maker, arranger, bandleader, and songwriter that has glided between jazz, pop, nation, reggae, and indie rock and roll — mostly like a live show bassist, but also like a program musician, solo designer, and in functions such as for example music movie director for Sara Bareilles’ BLACK OUTFITS tour in 2014. Elevated in Minnesota by two musician parents, Morrissey was raised playing the trumpet but found the bass in his mid-teens. After relocating to NY in his twenties, he released his debut full-length as the Chris Morrissey Quartet. A modern indie jazz recording, The Morning Globe was issued around the Sunnyside label in ’09 2009. His indie rock and roll task, Taurus, self-released Cannon Falls Forever in 2011 and North Hero, a jazz LP under his personal name, found its way to 2013, again having a four-piece and on Sunnyside. He’s toured the globe playing bass with functions as varied as Andrew Parrot, Roseanne Money, the Jim Campilongo Trio, and Trixie Whitley, and documented with, amongst others, Cyndi Lauper, Ben Kweller, Lucius, and Sara Bareilles on her behalf 2013 launch, The Blessed Unrest. Carrying on to collaborate with Bareilles and touring thoroughly with a number of additional indie and jazz performers, he organized Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile” for the “in memoriam” section from the 2014 Emmy Honours broadcast.
